Introduction to Horror


So what is a horror film?

 -A definition of horror describes it as being an intense feeling of fear, shock, or disgust.
-Horror Films described as being unsettling films designed to frighten and panic, cause dread and alarm, and to invoke our hidden worst fears, often in a terrifying, shocking finale, while captivating and entertaining us at the same time in a cathartic experience. This is the definition of a horror film from Google.


Alfred Hitchcock is one of the most famous directors in the horror genre, he has directed films such as Psycho, The birds and Vertigo. He is often described as "The master of suspense". Suspense is often a key part of horror films as you don't know what's going to happen and it always keeps the audience interested.
Other directors very famous for their work I the horror genre include:

- Wes Craven
- Sam Raimi
