Horror film title

Horror film titles are very important for films. They are important more for things such as marketing as a catchy name can stick in peoples head. Many horror film use short catchy titles, examples of this include Halloween, Saw, The Exorcist, Alien, and The Shining. These short simple titles are great for horror films as they are often very focused on mystery and the unknown, these short titles only give a small amount of information. The name Halloween for example, the audience are aware that this film is likely to take place on Halloween and that it is a horror film but little else. Alien is again another great example, the audience know that the film will involve an alien but little else. Some horror films do stray away from these short catchy names such as A Nightmare on Elm Street or The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

We came up with a few titles for our film based around the concept that we have, here are just some of the titles we could have chosen for the film:

We decided to go with Silent Killer, not only is it short but it has dual meanings. On one hand the antagonist is a ghost who attempts to murder the protagonist during the night without anybody noticing. The protagonist does realise this after a while but nobody else known about the ghost. The second meaning is this is a nickname for a kind of gas in WW2 which is where the ghost is from.

After deciding on the title for the film we had to find a font to present it. We wanted to look at some examples of other horror film titles to see what there font/logos look like for inspiration for our own. We also tried to do this for mainly slasher films as this is our sub-genre of horror film for our own film. Some of these are from the original films and some are from more modern reboots as we wanted a more mixed view.
Here are some examples of horror film titles/logo:
A Nightmare on Elm Street

we used Dafont to find the fonts as they have got a large selection of horror themes fonts. Here are some examples of fonts that we tried out:

In the end we chose to use two different fonts. We used Anarchy for the word silent and scream again for the word killer.

We changes the t on the word silent into a cross as this is creepy and also relates back to the idea of the gas mask man being a ghost who was buried. The reason we used the font Anarchy fort the word silent as it looks quite mysterious and spooky which relates back to the word silent. We used Scream again for the word Killer as it is very striking bold just like a killer would be.

Here is the final title:

This is the final title although the colours do change when in different posters to suit their backgrounds more.
