Film Distribution

(Google) Distribution definition:

  1. 1.
the action of sharing something out among a number of recipients.
"the government released about 74,000 tonnes of rice for distribution among people affected by the cyclone"

    • 2.
  2. the way in which something is shared out among a group or spread over an area.
"changes undergone by the area have affected the distribution of its wildlife"

In our case we are distributing a film and so are sharing and advertising it.

Here is our film pitch which we created and then presented to the class:

Our film distribution and funding

We would like our investor to be Working Title, there are many reasons why for example there films have quite a large budget compared to other British companies like Warp Films. They are a part of Universal studios and so have the money and contacts to get the film well marketed and distributed. They have also funded similar projects (horror films) to ours such as My Little Eye, Long time dead and Dawn of the Dead. This means that they are not stepping into new territory and will likely be more confident to invest in a film such as ours.

We would like to get £4.5 million from Working Title which is not actually a lot of money for a full length feature film from a company such as Working Title. Les Miserables is another Working Title film which had a much larger budget or $61 million, this is another way they do not really have to take a risk with this film as it is not very expensive to create and market but has the potential to bring a lot of money. Halloween (1978) was produced on a budget of $320,000 and ended up grossing $47 million in the US, with a worldwide gross of $60 million, this is a film very similar to ours as they are both slasher films.
